Baldur's Gate 3 group cosplay ideas and lineups

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the best games to cosplay as a group, because the companions have deliberately different silhouettes — armour, robes, camp clothes — so nobody ends up looking like a duplicate. The trick is matching the lineup to how many people you actually have.

Lineup ideas by group size

Group sizeLineupWhy it works
2Astarion + Gale, or Shadowheart + KarlachThe most recognisable duos — dramatic vampire and disaster wizard, or goth cleric and golden-retriever barbarian
3Shadowheart + Astarion + GaleAll three are iconic, and the mix of armour, coat and robe stops the group looking repetitive
4Shadowheart + Astarion + Gale + WyllA clean, achievable party with four distinct silhouettes
5–6The full camp lineupShadowheart, Astarion, Gale, Wyll, Lae'zel and Karlach. A genuine showstopper on a con floor
AnyThe antagonists — Orin, Gortash, Ketheric, Ascended AstarionFor groups who want the most theatrical and intricate designs in the game

Match the build to the person, not the other way round

The most common group cosplay mistake is assigning characters by who called dibs first. The lineup works better when it matches how much work each person actually wants to do. Shadowheart's Justiciar armour is a genuinely structural build with fitted pauldrons. Gale is essentially fabric and layering. Astarion is low on structure but high on styling — hair, fangs, makeup. Put the person who wants a project on the armour and the person who wants a comfortable weekend on a camp outfit.

Prop rules will shape your plans

Baldur's Gate 3 characters carry a lot of hardware — Astarion's dagger, Karlach's axe, Gale's orb. Convention weapon policies vary widely on length, material and whether props need to be peace-bonded. Check the policy for every event your group is attending before anyone commits to a build, because it is much cheaper to change a prop plan than a costume.

Build the whole camp

Common questions

Which Baldur's Gate 3 characters are easiest to cosplay as a group?

Camp outfits are the easy end — Shadowheart's camp clothes and Astarion's camp outfit are two pieces each and very comfortable. The armour builds, especially Shadowheart's Justiciar armour, are the most work and should go to whoever in the group wants the biggest project.

Do we all need to match the same act of the game?

You should at least agree on it. Shadowheart's hair changes between acts and Astarion has several looks, so a group photo where one person is in Act 1 styling and another in Act 3 can look inconsistent even if both costumes are accurate.
